Liverpool player ratings: How Jurgen Klopp’s men fared in victory at West Ham

first_imgLiverpool look on course for a top-four finish after their 4-0 victory at West Ham.Jurgen Klopp’s side enjoyed their first visit to the London Stadium, scoring three in the second-half.Daniel Sturridge, back in the side for his first start since January, opened the scoring after coolly rounding Adrian.Philippe Coutinho stole the show, netting twice, before Divock Origi completed the scoring and move them back up to third with one game remaining.See how talkSPORT scored the players’ performances by clicking the right arrow, above… Midfield: Emre Can – 7 – He grew into the game and did brilliantly in the centre of midfield as Liverpool were without the likes of Lucas Leiva and Jordan Henderson. Forward: Divock Origi – 6 – Netted the final goal to cap off an improved second-half performance after a disappointing first 45. Poor decision making at times and wasteful in the final third as he started his seventh match in a row for the Reds. 11 11 11 11 11 11 11 11 11 Right-back: Nathaniel Clyne – 7 – After a disappointing couple of games, the England defender put in a good shift. 11 11 Centre-back: Dejan Lovren – 7 – An overall solid game from the Croatian to see out the clean sheet. Midfield: Adam Lallana – 7 – His first start for the club since March and how they have missed him. The England international has had a brilliant season, displaying excellent creativity and endeavour in midfield and attack. Forward: Philippe Coutinho – 9 – A man of the match performance from the Brazilian. He had the licence to roam, showed his importance to the team and stepped up when it mattered. He set up Sturridge for the opener before netting two superb goals to put him on 13 for the season. Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet – 7 – click the right arrow, above, to see how Liverpool players performed v West Ham… – Another good performance from the Belgian, made some key saves when called upon and dominated his box from set pieces. Forward: Daniel Sturridge – 8 – A breath of fresh air after making his first start since January. His movement and positivity troubled West Ham’s back line and he took his goal brilliantly, showing composure to round Adrian before slotting into an empty net. Left-back: James Milner – 6 – Poor in the first half but as West Ham collapsed in the second half, the 31-year-old had the licence to attack more. Midfield: Georginio Wijnaldum – 7 – Like many players, the Dutchman was much improved in the second half, registering two assists. He very nearly scored a goal of the season contender as his dipping volley hit the bar before Philippe Coutinho’s first. As always, the former Newcastle man provided Liverpool’s midfield with energy. Centre-back: Joel Matip – 7 – Made a key interception in the run up to Sturridge’s opener. A solid game overall from the Cameroonian as we have come to expect. last_img read more
